Reflection# 1 Introduction to Bhutan Baccalaureate (BB)

"Children are our treasures. They hold the promise of the future and therefore, it is only right that they should be given every opportunity to develop their physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual potential to the fullest extent in an environment free of want and free of fear

- (His Majesty King Jigme Singye Wangchuk -The international year of the child, July 28, 1979)

On our first day of the mentoring session, our mentor, Sir Sangay Tshering introduced us to all to the concept of Bhutan Baccalaureate. Bhutan Baccalaureate is an educational model that aspires to assist learners in actualizing their potential to the fullest so that they can be constructive, contributory citizens in a just and harmonious society. Before he introduced the idea behind Bhutan Baccalaureate, he asked us our ideas on the subject. It seemed like almost every one of us had some idea about it.  However, we were much clear when Sir talked about the scope of the subject, its importance in shaping the future of our education system and also about his roadmap, which is one of the most important components of BB.

The first session was very informative and inspiring since I learnt a lot about BB and Sir's talk really made me passionate to learn more about it. Also, I was really excited to create my own roadmap and see what changes I can make in my learning and how I can grow personally this semester.
